Case Study: Solving Contradictory Product Requirements

A smart plug is one of the key devices of a smart home. On the one hand, it needs to sustain power requirements and on the other hand, it needs to have small foot print to meet space and aesthetic need. As a result, heat dissipation issues need to be dealt with to come up with a desirable solution. Close cooperation between our mechanical design engineers and power & heat management team resulted in the world smallest smart plug for a 16A / 220V European application.
